Shahrukh protects Asin at event

This is one incident that Asin Thottumkal won’t forget in a rush. At a current event she was surrounded by around 300 people who had got too close for soothe. However, it was none other than Shah Rukh Khan who came to her rescue. Had Shah Rukh not intervened in the nick of time, this would perhaps have been Asin’s worst understanding in Mumbai. An actor who was present there said, “The organisers had made a make-shift cubicle near the offstage where the stars were ushered in before they were supposed to go on stage.

Asin was about to enter the cubicle when the incident occurred.”She suddenly found herself surrounded by 300 people. She had only her spokesperson for company. Even as the duo was screaming for help, the crowd got within touching distance.Asin panicked when some over-enthusiastic fans tried to touch her on the pretext of shaking her hand. That was when Shah Rukh, who was supposed to go on stage next, intervened.”He instantly ordered his bodyguards to cut through the crowd and reach Asin. Before the crowd could realise what was happening, Shah Rukh with his six bodyguards reached where Asin was standing.

He grabbed her hand with his right hand and with his left, he caught hold of Asin’s spokesperson and dragged them outside the melee,” the actor added.Shah Rukh’s bodyguards have been trained in crowd management and they immediately formed a ring around Asin and Shah Rukh.”Shah Rukh and Asin had a long chat after the event. He advised her on her security and also told her to keep two bodyguards for public appearances,” the actor added. Though Asin didn’t deny the incident, she didn’t want to remark on it further.

Asin leaves sour taste in Salman’s mouth

While Asin claims to be having a cordial relationship with Salman Khan, the media is abuzz with the news of their friendship turning sour. During the shooting of London Dreams, the chemistry that the on-screen couple shared had become the talk of the town. But recently Salman has been spotted ignoring the actress, so much so, that the eternal bad-boy of Bollywood even refused to acknowledge her presence at a press conference held for the promotion of their flick. Avoiding the actress, Salman walked away from the interview leaving Asin all alone to face the media.

The reason for Salman ignoring Asin, both pictured, is because their friendship was under the constant scrutiny of the media, leading to rumours of a link-up, which was affecting his relationship with Katrina Kaif.According to a source: “Asin reached the studio at 1pm as scheduled. Salman was unwell as the previous day he had been to Kolkata where he contracted an allergy. His face was swollen and he had a runny nose. Hence, he was not very comfortable doing the interviews and requested the media guys to reschedule it, but continued to chat with them.”Asin was aware that the joint interviews would not happen, but she refused to move.

It was evident that she wanted to meet Salman. She came over from Studio number five to studio number six to sit beside Salman. “To everyone’s surprise, Salman did not even greet her. In fact, he completely ignored her. She sat there for some time but he simply refused to speak to her. Then he got up and left. Asin had no option but to leave after that. She was left wondering what went wrong between the two ‘friends’.” The news has been denied by Asin who said they were travelling together and attending the premiere in the same limo.

Asin let down by London Dreams makers?

Asin Thottumkal said no to Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan opposite Akshay Kumar because of the length of her role. Katrina Kaif happily bagged the role arguing that she wanted to be part of the film because of her pairing with Akshay. And to be part of the lavish laughathon, which promises to be one of the biggest hits of the year.Instead, Asin chose to do London Dreams where it so turns out that her role is not that substantial after all (to put it mildly). There is shock and disbelief about the length and scope of Asin’s role in London Dreams. After Ghajini, where she dominated the show, Asin as a chorus singer of a grunge band in London Dreams seems a bit hard to swallow.

Attempts to ask the actress if her role had been drastically downsized were met with a suspiciously stony silence from her. When Vipul Shah was contacted, he was characteristically forthright. “I’ve been hearing these stories about Asin’s role been chopped off. If some people believe her role has been edited what can I do? The truth of the matter is, Asin knew the exact extent of her role and she loved it. She went into London Dreams with her eyes open. And she loved the scope of her role. But finally when she saw the way the role had turned out maybe it didn’t meet her expectations.”Apparently the disappointing length of Asin’s post-debut Hindi film has soured things between the actress and the director.Vipul vehemently denies this. “Asin and I are still friends; we’ve met after the film’s release.

If she is disappointed by her role she hasn’t told me anything.” Curiously all the news of Asin’s presence in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se dried up after the acutely lukewarm response to her role and performance in London Dreams, leading to the speculation that perhaps the Ghajini spell had broken with the second film. Says a source from the industry, “Asin has been extremely picky so far. She has said no to offers like Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan and Farhan Akhtar’s Kartik Calling Kartik. And now after London Dreams she has no Hindi assignments on hand at the moment.”

Deepika steps in Asin’s shoes

After Asin suddenly backed out of Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next anticipated period film, buzz is that Deepika Padukone has replaced her. The film titled Khelen Hum Jee Jaan Se starring Abhishek Bachchan is based on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. Abhishek essays the role of Surjya Sen, and Ashu, after the dud Whats Your Rashee?, is putting his heart and soul into the movie. He wants it to be bigger than his earlier epic love story Jodhaa Akbar and was very keen on signing on Asin in the female lead. He was amazed by her work in Ghajini and wanted the same type of expressiveness to shine in his film as well.

However, Asin backed out at the last minute, citing date issues, leaving Ashu in a tizzy. A source close to the director revealed, “Ashutosh, who was busy working on the pre-production work of the film, was left surprised when Asin backed out of the film. He was back to searching his lead, and after Genelia D’souza and Sonam Kapoor, he finally zeroed in on Deepika Padukone, who readily accepted the role. Deepika had wanted to do a period film for a while now, and she knows that Ashu holds expertise in that area. She’s also excited to work with Ashutosh and Abhishek Bachchan for the first time. What more could an upcoming actress ask for so early in her Bollywood career?”

But why didn’t Asin feel the same? Explains her friend, wishing to stay anonymous, “Asin is tired of being sidelined in films. If she was praised for her performance in Ghajini, everybody knows who hogged most of the limelight. If she would have been promoted well during her first film, she wouldn’t have been taken for granted by other directors. The other being Vipul Shah, who didn’t utilise Asin in London Dreams as well, he made sure Salman and Ajay were the stars of the film and made Asin look a mere extra in the film. She didn’t even have a song for herself in the movie.” While Ashu is staying mum about bringing on Deepika on board, his wife Sunita confirmed the news, saying, ‘Yes. Deepika is on. We are really looking forward to working with her’

It is reported that Sikander Kher has also been offered a role in the film. After Niketan Dheer, who was cast in Jodhaa Akbar, here’s yet another star-son to get a break with Ashutosh.

Asin walks out on Abhishek

Asin has walked out of Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next anticipated period film Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se starring Abhishek Bachchan. After the failure of What’s your Rashee?, Ashutosh dived headfirst into his next period drama based on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. Going back to what he does best, Ashu roped in Asin to play the female lead and in an earlier interview had confirmed saying, “Yes, its true that Abhishek is a part of my film Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se and he essays the part of Surjya Sen, as far as Asin goes, I have approached her for the role but its too soon to comment on it.”Currently working on the pre-production matters of the film, Ashu was in for a rude shock when Asin backed off from the film last minute citing date issues.

The director was left surprised and a source close to the actress however revealed, “Its not date issues but Asin doesn’t want to take any more chances with her next. London Dreams while critically appreciated did receive a lukewarm response; Asin was completely sidelined in the film and barely had a role to talk about. She faced the same issue during Ghajini when Aamir hogged all the limelight and couldn’t believe she made the same mistake again.Considering the recent closeness between Ashutosh and the Bachchans, Asin is sure that he wouldn’t pay much attention to her role and would devote his time and energy in promoting Abhishek in the film. Also the failure of What’s Your Rashee? concerned her deeply and now she is being very careful with choosing her next film.

Asin wants a full fledged meaty role in her next to prove her acting prowess.”Now Ashutosh along with pre-production matters of his film will have to start searching for his female lead again and we wonder who would he settle upon considering he’s irked half of the industry’s ladies with his unruly comments on Priyanka. Maybe Ash might come to her hubby’s rescue finally!

Cautious Asin blatantly refuses Ashutosh Gowariker

Just two films old in Bollywood, Asin is already throwing fits and turning down taskmasters like Ashutosh Gowariker. The stunner who is often touted to be thriving on the success of her co-stars has blatantly refused to be a part of Gowariker’s next venture ‘Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se’ opposite Abhishek Bachchan after showing initial interest in the project.

And like all B-town’s top-notch actress, Asin backed out of the project by citing a date problem. Nevertheless, sources state otherwise. According to reports, the sizzling siren walked out of the film as she was not too happy with the significance her character was given.

Confirming the news a daily quoted a source as saying, “Asin was excited about working with Ashutosh Gowariker, but after hearing the script, she mulled over it and opted out."

And though the actress stated that she was engaged with other projects, the real reason was the inadequate screen space for her character. Well, going by her recent debacle in London Dreams where she was reduced to a background dancer, Asin seems to be taking her career decision was too cautiously.

And after Ashutosh’s recent dud of ‘What’s your Rashee’, Bollywood’s faith in the director is shaken, pushing Asin to think twice.

Salman Khan plays Asin’s protector

Toodley too doo hoo my dimsums! A jasoos from Dubai just called to tell me about Salman Khan’s protective ways with Asin. Yeah, the two sitaras had taken off to the Gulf for the first night-out of their musical London Dreams, while co-star Ajay Devgan and producer-director Vipul Shah opted to promote it on desi shores.Point to be noted is that initially, the two stars were to reach the venue in separate Limousines.

But apparently, Sallu suggested that instead of going alag alag and akele akele, Asin and he should travel saath saath, in the same Limo.Of course, Asin couldn’t refuse… Specially since he’s a senior star and they had become good friends during the shoot of the musical. But there was another problem — she was wearing a gown and the way it flowed, it kind of swept the floor.

So Sallu ensured that her outfit didn’t get dirty and played the chivalrous hero to the hilt, apart from playing mentor and protecting her when the crowd tried pushing closer to the stars at the theatre. Now now, before you get any ideas, my jasoos reiterates that Sallu and Asin are just very good friends. Yeah, but of course. Who said anything else?

Salman-Asin resorting to cheap publicity?

Somebody might have opened the Pandora’s box as the release date of London Dreams drew near. All sorts of gossips varying from Salman Khan’s close relationship with his co-star Asin Thottumkal to their big fight filled the newspaper entertainment columns and websites.Do you think the lead pair is resorting to cheap publicity? Who knows, because they neither complained nor cared to clarify the gossips.

Yes, they say ‘no publicity is bad publicity.’ Asin, being relatively a novice in Bollywood though a big name down South, seemed to be disturbed by all the gossips. But Salman handles it differently. He keeps mum on all the issues – be it his relationship with Asin or the alleged ‘fight’. He knows it would create more hype around the film and thus pave the way for a good opening.

Well, the much-hyped film London Dreams, starring Ajay Devgn besides Salman and Asin, releases today. Let’s wait and watch whether it’s worth the hype!

Salman Khan snubs Asin in public

Another B’wood fallout! I just love these tinsel townies. Their emotions fluctuate so much, there’s always scope for a turnaround in any relationship. The latest to join the list is the Salman Khan-Asin friendship.A little birdie told me that the actors who shared a loving relationship during the making of their film London Dreams, have fallen out just before the film is all set to hit the theatres. And for no apparent reason. So let me tell you what exactly happened. In a recent press conference, Salman ignored (and I mean IGNORED) his co-star Asin completely. He pretended not to see her and simply refused to acknowledge the Ghajini girl’s presence when she was sitting right beside him.

Now, that’s taking shortsightedness to a new level, wotsay?Ok, so this is how it went. There was a press conference. Interviews were scheduled in two adjacent studios. Asin started with her interviews at 1 pm. Salman Khan was unwell after his Kolkata trip and wanted his interviews rescheduled but however, continued chatting with the media. Asin, obviously wanting to meet her superstar co-actor came from studio 5 (where her interview was being held) to studio 6 (where Khan was speaking to the media) completely aware that there was not going to be any joint interviews. Salman did not even greet her! OUCH!

But persistence thy name is Asin! The girl stuck around, sitting right next to Khan and getting ignored. Finally Sallu got up and left. Asin had to follow. Now, one cannot help but wonder what had gone wrong between the co-stars who had got along famously so far. So Juicy Mausi just had to do some snoopin’ around. According to this little birdie, Salman andAsin were so close, it was apparently creating problems in his relationship with Katrina Kaif. And that’s exactly why Khan decided to distance himself from the lady. Hmmm… Is he just trying to be the example and tell Katrina to do the same with Ranbir? Who knows?

However, Asin refuses to give in to such rumours and apparently has claimed that the duo had come and left the interview together. They are even going to attend the premiere ofthe film in the same limo! Good for them!

Asin Thottumkal is game for a bikini

It is difficult to survive in Bollywood without glamour. Even established actresses have been forced to go glamorous due to cut-throat competition. Rani Mukherjee exposed like never before in her recent release Dil Bole Hadippa while Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta stunned the audience by appearing in bikini in their recent releases.

So, is our Ghajini actress Asin Thottumkal game for two-piece attire? The answer is ‘Yes’.Asin recently said that she is not averse to wearing a bikini. She thinks it is very subjective and depends largely on how comfortable she feels with the team. She doesn’t rule out donning it in the future if the script really demands it.

Well, Asin’s second Bollywood film London Dreams is releasing tomorrow, October 30. She acts with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn.

Asin collapsed in front of media

Asin is the next in line to suffer ill health due to hectic work schedule & too much work pressure. In keeping with the recent line of fainting beauties, Asin collapsed during a media event for ‘London Dreams’ thereby joining the likes of other overworked and under-nourished actresses like Piggy chops and Kareena Kapoor. On Saturday, while addressing a press person, Asin collapsed at a club in Andheri. The actress who had been giving endless media interviews left everyone stunned when during a conversation with a TV channel she passed out.The actress was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Talking about her jam-packed schedule, Asin said, “I’ve become quite a hazard zone, haven’t I? Going by the number of mishaps, I qualify as the desi Calamity Jane”.“Actually, I hadn’t slept at all that day or the night before. I had been doing back-to-back interviews for ‘London Dreams’ for the last one week with just 3-4 hours of sleep. On that day, there was no sleep or food at all. Anyway, I’m making up for the exhausting week with the most peaceful and happy birthday of my life”, the actress added.

However, even though the actress maintains that she is overworked; sources tell us that it’s her fixation to get a lean figure that has taken a toll on her health.Asin this will take you nowhere, don’t try to imitate others, do what suits you the best.

My dad & Salman are pals: Asin

There were many stories about how Salman Khan and Asin got along like a house on fire during the shooting of London Dreams. But the rosy picture was shattered when rumours of an ugly fight between Sallu and Asin’s father started doing the rounds. Now, Asin admits that Salman has been “a great friend and support”, but says the supposed fight between him and her father was “a figment of someone’s imagination”.

When we quiz Asin about it, she gets defensive and shows exasperation. “Why do people keep asking me the same question? There were no fights at all.In fact, Salman and my father got along very well and he even gifted my father one autographed portrait,” she says.”You know, half my interviews go in clarifying stories and controversies.

I wonder where they come from,” grieves the actress.Well Asin, we hate to burst your bubble but the fact remains that controversies are just a part of the fame that comes along with brand Bollywood.

Asin's New Friend in Bollywood - Kajol?

Asin Thottumkal has created waves in Bollywood with her first movie "Ghajini," and ever since the girl has garnered much fan following. Asin and gorgeous Deepika Padukone have taken friendship between two Bollywood female actors to another level through Farah Khan's "Tere Mere Beach Mein." Many people around the globe believe that two beautiful and successful actors can never be friends. Well, Asin and Deepika seemed to have developed genuine friendship and proved this statement wrong.

WhilAsin, Kajole Asin is staying loyal to her friend Deepika, it seems like she has found a new friend in Bollywood, Kajol Devgan. The gorgeous natural actor Kajol is known to have only a close circle of friends. In fact, upon questioned by Karan Johar she had accepted on "Koffee With Karan" that she doesn't like most of the people we meet. It seems like Asin is not one of those people. Asin and Kajol met first in a studio where Asin was shooting for "Ghajini" and Kajol for "Toonpur Ka Superhero." Upon hearing about Kajol's presence in the studio, Asin was pleased to approach her.

Asin and Kajol also got a chance to bond on the sets of "London Dreams" when Asin was shooting with Kajol's hubby Ajay Devgan. A source revealed that the two got along really well.

Talking about bonding, it's not Kajol that Asin bonded with on the sets of "London Dreams." Asin and Ajay enjoyed shooting together not only because of the good scenes but also because of the tongue twister challenges! A source revealed that Asin would challenge Ajay to English tongue twisters and Ajay would challenge Asin with Hindi tongue twisters. Victory usually belonged to Asin here.

Seems like Asin has found two new friends during the shooting of "London Dreams." Let's hope the friendships will continue beyond the release of "London Dreams."

I would never do something indecent. ;Asin

Southern beauty Asin, who is looking forward to her mega budget Bollywood release London Dreams, says she chooses her roles carefully as she doesn't want to do anything vulgar or indecent.

"I would never do something that is baseless, vulgar and indecent, something I am not comfortable doing and therefore can't do justice with," Asin said.

"When I choose a film, my criteria are script, role, director, producer and then co-artist. Language or financial issues never determine what film I want to do," she added.

The 23-year-old made her debut in Hindi movies opposite superstar Aamir Khan in the hit film Ghajini last year.

Salman Khan’s outing with Asin

Expect the unexpected from Salman Khan. Kolkatans are going to have a whale of a time with Wanted actor very soon. He is going to celebrate the success of Wanted in Kolkata on 23rd October. But surprisingly, he is coming with Asin Thottumkal and not Ayesha Takia, the heroine of Wanted. The company that is marketing Wanted and London Dreams, decided to bring Salman to the city because the football match, which was supposed to take place at the Mohammedan Sporting Club on September 26, was cancelled due to security reasons.

The whole team of Wanted had to leave the playgrounds, after 40,000 fans went berserk.Salman is coming along with his London Dreams co-star Asin and the crowd is expected to touch 90,000. He will be dressed in tune with his character in London Dreams and perform along with dancers during the two-hour show. Southern beauties Asin & Sridevi get pally

Asin has often been compared to Sridevi, ever since she made her Bollywood debut in Ghajini. Both are actresses from the south who made it big in the Hindi film industry and post Ghajini, expectations are high from Asin to maintain the hype surrounding her. But professional similarities aside, we recently came to know that the two actresses get along like a house on fire. Asin and Sridevi share a great bond, a relationship which grows stronger because of the fact that the two stay in the same building.

Of course, Sridevi’s caring nature also played a part.We ask Asin about her new-found friendship with Sri and she says, “We have become very close. She is one of the sweetest persons I have ever met. She takes care of me so much and often prepares food for me. We visit each other often and go out together.” Asin adds, “Her children are as sweet as her and often come over to my place. It is a special relationship.” We prod her about the comparisons being made between her and Sridevi and she says, “Comparisons are a tricky area.

I would like to create my own space, rather than trying to be like someone else.” We know most actress do not get along much with each other but it’s a welcome change to see that Sri is among those senior actresses who know how to act their age.

Asin denies refusing Farah Khan’s offer

The latest rumor that is doing the rounds is that south sensation Asin refused Farah Khan’s offer. The news hit the headlines that she refused to act opposite Shahrukh Khan in ‘Happy New Year’. The actress turned red hot with the false rumor and totally denied rejecting Farah Khan’s offer whom she adores so much.

Asin quips, “I am extremely upset with this rumour that has obviously been floated by vested interests. I don’t understand how such rumours crop up. Farah Khan is a close friend of mine there is no way I can refuse her. There was never any discussion over the movie. This news is utter rubbish”.

Even Farah Khan denied approaching Asin. She said that the rumor is a complete fabrication and she has not even completed the script.Asin will be next seen in Vipul Shah’s ‘London Dreams’ starring Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan.
