Sanjay Dutt in trouble for the beard

Sanjay Dutt’s dates have gone haywire, all thanks to the beard that he has grown for his role in Mani Shankar’s Knock-Out.The beard was supposed to come off this month after the completion of his schedule for Shankar’s film. But Dutt’s mentor Amar Singh played the spoilsport. He asked Dutt to campaign for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. That’s when Dutt’s shooting schedule got somewhat messed up.Says a source close to Dutt, “Sanjay Dutt was supposed to complete the current schedule of Knock-Out and then move on to Indra Kumar’s Dhamaal Part 2, the next schedule of Anees Bazmi’s No Problem and the remaining portion of Bunty Walia’s Lamhaa. But suddenly Sanjay got a call from Amar Singh asking him to campaign for the by-elections in Maharashtra.”

When Amar Singh summons, Sanjay Dutt hears no other voice. Says the source, “Sanjay immediately gave the dates required. Resultantly his schedules were thrown off by two weeks.” Two weeks in itself would’ve not been such a setback were it not for the beard. Apparently Dutt refused to shave off the beard to work on other pending projects simultaneously with Knock-Out. Says the source, “Sanjay feels a false beard would cut into the authenticity of his character in Knock-Out. He refused to shave off the beard and take on the other projects after the delay caused by the by-elections. He requested other producers to push up their dates until he could finish with his bearded look.”

Dutt has now decided that he would hold a ‘Look’ for his film even if it means cutting down on his assignments. In fact after he was unable to shave off his beard during Knock-Out he gave others producers the option of signing someone else.

Manyata charms Sanjay Dutt’s fans

Recently, Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata kept a special screening of All The Best for her husband’s German fans who had flown down to meet him. While Dutt met them for coffee in the afternoon at his residence, Mana kept them company at the screening as Dutt had to fly down to Delhi for some political work.Talking about her trip to Mumbai, Ingrid Zellner, one of the German fans says, “We’ve been in touch with Manyata through Facebook but never had the opportunity to meet up. A week ago, we were talking about All the Best and informed her that we could not watch the movie in Germany as it was not out. I added that we would have to wait for a long time to watch it. That’s when Manyata invited us to come down to Mumbai and promised a free trial for me and my other friends who are also big Sanjay Dutt fans.”

Ingrid adds that the time spent with Dutt and Manyata was special. “Since Sanjay was going to Delhi, he made sure that he met us for some time before leaving and invited us over to his house over some lovely coffee. Sanjay and Mana were so warm and welcoming. Manyata took good care of us. I have always believed Sanjay to be a man with a golden heart; this time I got to see it as well. We usually see most movies on DVD or on TV since Hindi films are not screened in all cinema halls. I have seen all of Sanjay’s films and put up all the information, reviews, photographs etc on the fan site I have made for him, (sanjay-dutt.info).”

That wasn’t all. His fans also gifted Dutt a specially made DVD called A Tribute to Sanjay Dutt with scenes from all his films, a picture greeting from his German fans and a personal gift for Manyata. Concludes Ingrid, “I am grateful to Manyata for making our dream come true.” Manyata says, “Sanju is a great host. He wanted me to be there to make sure that his guests were taken care of properly since he had to rush to Delhi for his political commitments. I was there representing him. It was wonderful meeting his fans.

Sanjay Dutt practicing Hollywood punches

Sanjay Dutt is currently in Pune, doing some stylised heavy-duty, hand-to-hand combat scenes for Sohail Maklai’s Knockout. The high-end action sequence is being supervised by Hollywood action choreographers. Sanjay says, “I had learnt kung fu before I started shooting for Rocky (his first film) and I just needed to do some polishing up. Currently, we are doing hand-to-hand combat and other stylised sequences. I am back to doing tough action sequences after a really long time and it feels great!.Producer Sohail adds, “Sanju refused to use a body double for doing the stunts. They are a mixture of martial arts, and high-end, hand-to-hand combat scenes that requires the artiste to be very fit physically and have great stamina.

Dutt was excited about doing the stunts himself. We have been working together after six years and I wanted to make sure that he does something really sensational this time.”Sohail has action choreographers Joey Ansah and Silvio Simac flown in from UK and USA. “Joey was Matt Damon’s nemesis Desh in The Bourne Ultimatum and performed all his own stunts. He was heavily involved in the choreography and brutal execution of the now famous brawl in the Tangiers Apartment. Silvio Simac is a martial arts expert who holds black belts in different disciplines.”

For this flick to be directed by Mani Shankar, they are also reconstructing a scene somewhat similar to the famous fight scene in The Bourne Ultimatum. Sohail continues, “When Joey and Silvio came down to Pune, they wanted Sanju to rehearse his action scenes for two days before starting the actual shoot.” Dutt, who has lost 24 kilos on his keratosis diet, is off it and is now on a steady dose of steamed chicken, fish and salad.

Sanjay Dutt Knocks Out Kangana Ranaut

50-year old Sanjay Dutt has been shooting with 20-something Kangana Ranaut. And if they were looking super-compatible in spite of Kangana being half the age of Dutt, it’s all because of Dutt’s special ketosis-based diet.Says a source close to Dutt, “Sanjay went on this special diet in June. It required him to take lots and lots of fattie food and no carbohydrates at all. In fact carbs would’ve been potentially lethal for this diet. In no time Sanjay started losing weight. And that too without Sanju having to give up his favourite food.”

Today, Dutt is looking trimmer than he did ten years ago. And when he shot with Kangana last week, the camera made them look compatible.Dutt plays an assassin out to get his victim with a sniper rifle in Knock Out. Kangana Ranaut has always had a fascination for assassin heroes. She began her career with Gangster where her assassin-hero was Shiney Ahuja. Now in Mani Shankar’s Knock Out, she’s again attracted to the killer-hero, this time played by Sanjay Dutt.

The two became professionally fond of one another while shooting for the comedy No Problem in Cape Town. When Mani Shankar was looking for a bright intense young actress to play a television journalist it was Dutt who recommended Kangana to the director.

Amitabh touches Sanjay Dutt’s feet

Believe it or not Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan touched Sanjay Dutt’s feet. The unthinkable happened in the Sujoy Ghosh directed Aladin when it a particular scene Big B who plays the Genie had to kneel down and touch the feet of Ringmaster played by Sanjay Dutt. Sujoy Ghosh considered the scene to be very important as it contributed to the dramatic quotient of the movie. The entire team was apprehensive about shooting the scene as they were asking the living legend of Indian cinema to touch someone’s feet.

Director Sujoy Ghosh was worried about the reaction of millions of Indians to it.Sanjay Dutt too wasn’t game for the scene at first since Amitabh Bachchan is too big a name to be kneeling down on his feet.Amitabh Bachchan didn’t hesitate in going by the demand of the script and encouraged everyone including Ghosh to shoot the important sequence.

The movie will be worth a watch because never in his career the ‘angry young man’ of the 70s or the ‘Godfather’ of the millennium has been shot kneeling down in somebody’s feet.

Sanjay Dutt opts out of Bunty Walia’s Just Punjabi

There’re more twists and turns in the casting of Bunty Walia’s Just Punjabi. First it was to feature Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt in a mentor-protegee plot set in Canada to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Then the producer decided to let his brother Jaspreet Walia direct the film. Sanjay Dutt was relocated into the Big B’s role while Abhishek Bachchan shifted into Dutt’s role. Now one hears that Dutt is no more interested in doing Just Punjabi.”

After the long and taxing experience Sanjay Dutt had over Lamhaa, he wants to take a long break from Bunty Walia’s projects.Next year Mr. Dutt’s schedule is choc-a-bloc. No way can he fit Bunty’s film in,” revealed a source close to the actor. So where does that leave Just Punjabi? Bunty doesn’t deny that Dutt is not confirmed for Just Punjabi despite being the first actor on board when the project was announced two years ago. “As of now, Abhishek Bachchan is confirmed for the other role. I’m not sure about Sanju. I’ve to meet him to find out if he is on. But I’d like to believe he is on,” said Bunty.

One reason being given for Dutt’s reluctance to do Just Punjabi is the new director.Bunty, however, dismissed the report, saying: “Would Abhishek have agreed to do Just Punjabi if my brother was not competent? I’m too much of a businessman to invest in a project as large as this if I didn’t have faith in it, even if the director is my brother.”

Priya Dutt skips 'mata ki chowki' at Sanjay Dutt's residence

It was a night to remember. While Sanjay Dutt glowed when one of his sister Namrata (Anju) Dutt showed up with her husband, Sanjay Dutt's other sister Priya Dutt was conspicuous by her absence leading to speculation on why and how the rapprochement between the brother and sister would ever happen!

The Chowki at the Dutts' residence was attended by all of the couple's friends except Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu, who couldn't make it because they were shooting far away, near Madurai.

Among the invitees who trouped in and stayed right till the end of the occasion were Suniel Shetty and his wife, Zayed Khan and wife, Kunal Kohli, Bunty Walia and his current girlfriend.

The surprise guests were Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle, who arrived on the dot at 7 pm and stayed till the very end at 9.30 pm.

While the bonding between Dutt and Akshay Kumar has been growing over the past few months, especially after they shot for the last two songs of Blue last week, the bonding between their wives was a surprise.

Says a guest at the jagran, "Twinkle and Manyata were inseparable all evening. They had earlier broken the ice in the Bahamas when they had joined their respective husbands during the shooting. This is the first time they spent so much time together. The bonding between the two ladies is further going to strengthen the Dutt-Akshay friendship."

After Salman, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan eye IPL Team

With IPL turning out to be a major money spinner, Bollywood celebrities are keen to make big bucks by buying cricket teams. According to latest Bollywood news, it is believed that B-town hunk Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan are eager to buy Ahemdabad IPL cricket team.
Talking to a newspaper, a close source confirmed the news of Sanjay and Ajay planning to buy an IPL team. "They have decided to own a team together as they are ardent cricket fans. They are keen to own the Ahmedabad team. Since Ajay was busy travelling, he informed Sanjay about being unable to meet IPL Commissioner, Lalit Modi. It was Sanjay who met Modi and expressed their interest to own a team. Modi and Sanjay met at a suburban five-star on Wednesday to understand the bidding process. Sanjay made it very clear that whenever the auction begins, they are ready to invest in the Ahmedabad team," the source said.

However, when Dutt met Lalit Modi at a posh Mumbai hotel, the actor was taken by complete surprise as he had no idea that media would be waiting for him at the same venue. It is believed that media is informed every time a Bollywood star wishes to buy an IPL team. The source maintained, “The idea is to let it be known that big stars are getting progressively involved with the IPL. That attracts more money, eyeballs and junta interest. So on Wednesday evening when Dutt reached the Hyatt he was taken aback to see media persons swarming the place. His first impulse was to flee.”

However, it is believed that the meeting between Dutt and Modi was a great success where the former discussed his curiosities about buying an IPL team. The source added, “Sanjay’s main concern was, would he be able to buy the team because of his court cases? There are many things that he can’t do, like endorsements, etc. Sanjay was assured there would be no problem. With the removal of TADA charges Dutt now has rights equal to every other Indian citizen.”

After Shah Rukh, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty dabbling in IPL, it’s Sanjay and Ajay’s turn to invest in an IPL team!

Sanjay Dutt Returns To His Evil Ways!

After playing the baddie in Subhash Ghai’s 1993 hit Khalnayak, Sanjay Dutt is set to show his wicked side again in Aladin. Dutt is all set to scorch the silver screen as the evil ‘Ringmaster’ in the modern day take on the classic fairy tale starring Amitabh Bachchan as the ‘Genie’ and Riteish Deshmukh in the title character.

"Sanjay essays the role of a most unusual villain ‘Ringmaster’, who can inspire tremendous awe and fear in the audiences mind. ‘Ringmaster’ is a character which takes villainy to new heights, but at the same time manages to endear himself to everyone," director Sujoy Ghosh said.

He is a fun-evil character. A man who is happy in what he is doing. A man who is good at being bad, whose smile would scare the living daylights out of you. A man so big that even the all-powerful ‘Genie’ would be rendered helpless in front of him," Ghosh said.

"And to play such a powerful character, I couldn’t think of anyone but Sanjay, known as Khalnayak of Bollywood."

"The larger than life persona that he beautifully portrays on screen is unmatchable," he said.

Ghosh describes the film as "a contemporary look at the classic fairy tale packed with fun, music, masti, action and adventure". The film, produced by Eros International in association with Ghosh’s production company Boundscript also marks the debut of Sri Lankan model Jacqueline Fernandes as ‘Jasmine’

Sanjay Dutt fires media over Ajmal Kasab

Actor Sanjay, who is charged under the Arms Act, is still fighting for his freedom. The actor, nevertheless, has moved on in life – be it films or then standing on election podiums and giving bhaashans. Sanjay Dutt, however, in a recent conversation with an actor-friend was agitated with the amount of publicity Ajmal Kasab has been getting. And he blames the media for making a hero of this terrorist who claimed lives!

“Why are the media making a hero of Ajmal? I don’t understand it,” said Sanjay Dutt, “Ajmal Kasab is a terrorist! Yet, the media write about what he eats in jail, how he wishes to meet Amitabh Bachchan.... It’s so stupid. People like Kasab need to be dealt with seriously,” said Dutt.

When we chose to bring up his case, Sanju simply stated, “The media has the right to report the truth, they have the right to report facts. So yes, please report everything about me, if you have to... but get the facts correct. Don’t write that I am being tried for the ‘Mumbai Blast case’ when I’m actually being tried under the Arms Act. That’s wrong information,” he said, agitatedly.

About his career in politics, Sanjay Dutt said that the aspirations were still sky high. “It’s actually the 26/11 attack that made me want to get into politics and do something for the country. People were agitated on that day. They came and lit candles, but everything seems to have fizzled out now. That’s sad.” About his election stint, Sanjay Dutt was most shocked with the ‘love and warmth’ he received.

Actually even my Munnabhai image has got people thinking that I can cure... that’s not true. But they are fans... Contesting is not easy. A politician has a tough job to do. And giving bhashans is the toughest of it all, especially for me, a man of few words,” he said.

Sanjay Dutt-Trishala to reunite in America?

Earlier this week, we spotted Sanjay Dutt outside the US Consulate in South

Mumbai.

And we must say, the dashing hero gathers quite a crowd wherever he goes. We don’t know about the proceedings of his meeting, but as always, as soon as the junta got whiff of this, they gathered outside to get a dekko of the deadly Dutt. The mob waited anxiously till Sanju reappeared and did the shaking hands and blowing kisses in the air routine.

A little birdie tells us that Dutt is planning to go to the US to spend time with beti Trishala. Well, we don’t know if the lady of the Dutt khandaan, Maanyata, will be joining him to complete the family picture. But we think the young Ms Dutt wouldn’t mind spending time with Daddy Dutt alone.

Sanjay’s Birthday Wish is for a baby!

Sanjay Dutt, who turns 50 on July 29, is looking better than he has in recent years — the actor admits that he’s even feeling better these

And with six releases lined up in the next six months — kickstarting with the Soham Shah-directed Luck that releases on July 24 — Dutt admits that work couldn’t have been more exciting.

Produced by Dhilin Mehta under his banner Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd, Luck is a hardcore action adventure that boasts of some death-defying and high octane stunts. The film that also stars Imran Khan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Ravi Kissen, Chitrashi Rawat, Danny Denzongpa and marks the debut of Shruti Haasan, has the deadly Dutt doing what he does best — action!

“Yes, it was exciting doing those action sequences. I think Soham’s really pushed the envelope of this genre,” says Dutt. Unfazed by the younger crop of actors entering the industry, Dutt says, “It’s good to see such talent on this big a scale.” Point out to the actor that he’s still giving the younger actors a run for their money, and he laughs it off. “You have to accept your age gracefully and admit that you can’t be doing the same stuff that you did a decade back. But I am glad I am getting roles that suit me.”

With a mixed fare on his filmi platter from a fantasy thriller to a comedy and from drama to action, Dutt’s on a professional high. A firm believer in luck and destiny himself, the star reveals that he feels blessed to be where he is today. “This is one of the best phases in my life. I have my work, I have my family, friends, well-wishers and I have Maana. I feel lucky in life!” he says without any trace of bitterness as he looks back.

Rubbishing reports of any tiff with his sisters, Dutt complains, “I don’t see why I should be seen dining every weekend with them just to prove that everything is fine between us. We are all family and will always stand by each other at the end of the day.”

And what about starting his own family? “I would love to. I missed out a lot of joys of fatherhood during Trishala’s time, I want to make up for all that lost time.” So is that his birthday wish? “No, my only birthday wish is that I want to be a free man. I have put it all behind me, but I still do get nightmares. Waking up next to a loved one helps, but I still wnat my freedom back,” he signs off.

Sanjay Dutt to Lose Weight by July 29!

Sanjay Dutt is not happy about the way he has been looking of late. So, he has decided to give up on drinking, fried and fatty foods to shed weight as soon as possible.
‘Munnabhai’ decided to lose weight after seeing himself in an item song with Anil Kapoor in ‘Shortkut’, in which he is looking jaded and sluggish. He has set himself a deadline to lose weight – his birthday on July 29.

Dutt is recently in South Africa, shooting the comedy ‘No Problem’ with Anil Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut. And he has hit Richard Branson’s gym to meet his target.

Dutt will also be seen with youngsters like Ranbir and Imran in his upcoming films, so the actor is keen to look his best to avoid any negative feedback. Let’s see how much can Sanjay lose and once again earn the label of having a super hot-bod!

Sanjay's dripping in Jewels

Sanjay Dutt has been pampered a lot by the producers of his forthcoming film Luck in which he plays a flamboyant betting and gambling tycoon. DNA has learnt that the producers Ashtavinayak have given Sanjay diamond and gold accessories worth Rs4.5 lakh to make him look like as flashy as possible on screen.

A source close to the film says: "Sanjay has done flashy characters before with shades of grey and so naturally there was a thing that this one should look very different from what he has looked in those films. He plays the character of a king-pin Moussa who runs a major business of betting and gambling. So to suit the majestic aura of Moussa, the producer and director, Soham Shah, got together and spared no expenses to give him the distinctive edge."

We learn that Soham has personally designed a diamond horse-shoe pendant which is worn by Sanjay throughout the film worth approximately Rs1 lakh. Soham and Sanjay have shared a very special bond during the filming.

The insider adds: "To make his character look all the more realistic, they got him made a gold dice which costs not less than Rs3 lakh. Apart from that he's also seen carrying a Nokia phone studded with diamonds just to add a little bit more glamour to his character. The total amount spent on him in close to Rs5 lakh."

Imran braves downpour to appear on TV show to Promote Luck

Though Imran Khan did not show an interest in promoting Luck with co-star Sanjay Dutt on 10 Ka Dum, he had no qualms about appearing on another TV show with Ravi Kissen, who also features in the action flick.
Despite the downpour on Tuesday, Aamir Khan's nephew made his way to the Famous Studios at Mahalaxmi from his Bandra home to shoot for Sa Re Ga Ma Li'l Champs.Singing along

It is learnt that the actor rendered the Mera Joota Hai Japani track on the reality show. He even requested his favourite song Ghazab Ka Hai Din from his mamujaan's film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak to be sung by Udit Narayan, who was the celebrity judge for the episode. Alka Yagnik who is on the show's jury along with Abhijeet crooned with Udit.

Won't make a difference

Says a source, "When Dutt shot for 10 Ka Dum earlier this month, Imran was requested to accompany him on Salman Khan's show. But the Jaane Tu actor expressed his reservations. He said that appearing in a TV programme would not make a big difference to the film's publicity. Following his snub, Dutt then shot the episode with Jackie Shroff, who is also part of the cast.

But Imran had a change of mind when he arrived from London on July 11. Though he had gone to visit his grandmother there, he even did media interactions for Soham Shah's flick.

Adds the source, "To everyone's surprise he agreed to appear on L'il Champs with Ravi Kissen to promote Luck."

B-Town buzz is that Imran didn't want to appear with Dutt as they don't exactly share warm vibes. The youngster's overzealous involvement in the shooting process, has turned off Dutt who prefers a hassle-free working environment.

With three films releasing on the same day, Sanjay’s on a hatrick!

Ever since Bollywood’s ‘munnabhai’ entered the hallowed precincts of Indian politics, it seemed the hunk of an actor bid goodbye to tinsel town!
Well, for all those die-hard Sanjay fans, news has it that this Diwali, Sanjay gears up to deliver a hatrick at the Box Office with three of his flicks releasing simultaneously. Grapevine has it that Eros’s ‘Aladin’, Ajay Devgan’s ‘All The Best’ and Ashtavinayak Cinevision’s ‘Blue’ are slated to release on 16th October.

According to a close source, “There have been times when two films of the same actor have released at the same time. It’s probably for the first time that an actor will have three releases on the same day. But all three films are different. ‘Blue’ is a 100-crore spectacular with a number of underwater stunts. ‘All The Best’ is a laugh riot, while ‘Aladin’ is a fantasy.”

The news has been confirmed by all three producers and according to the official spokesman of Eros films, “It is true that we are releasing the film on Diwali, October 16. We don’t want to comment on other films, but we are definitely sticking to it.”

When enquired whether the directors are jittery over the same day releases, ‘All The Best’ director Rohit Shetty said, “We have planned a Diwali release as of now, but I am not aware of the release date of other films.”

‘Blue’ producer Ashtavinayak shared similar concerns and said, “We are aware of the other two releases, but we are surely releasing the movie on October 16. We can’t change that. We are very confident of what we have made. ‘Blue’ is our biggest film till date. The films are different and we hope that all of them do well at the Box Office.”

Sanju wins Rs 10 lakh on Sallu's show for Wife's NGO

After the teams of New York and Do Knot Disturb, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff recently made an appearance on Salman Khan's 10 Ka Dum to promote their film Luck.

Dutt won Rs 10 lakh on the show and donated it to his wife Maanayata's NGO Damage, which takes care of under-privileged women and disabled children.A smashing time

Sanjay Dutt says, "10 Ka Dum is a great show to be on! Salman's fantastic as the host! I was there with Jaggu and it was a riot. The three of us had a smashing time. Salman mimicked me, and made me sing and dance to songs from my films."

He confirms winning Rs 10 lakh for the show, "Yes, and I donated it to the NGO Damage. They are doing great work and help the poor and disabled."

Damage is a charity organisation run by Maanayata with her friends and they help women in distress, physically challenged children, arrange marriages of the underprivileged, aid in the treatment of cancer. Dutt says emotionally, "There was a 12-year-old girl whose father had died in the Kargil war.

She had a hole in her heart and her mom was running from door-to-door desperately seeking help for her child. She didn't get sufficient help from the army but Damage took care. They restored her heart and today she's undergoing treatment."

Brooding over the beard

Dutt wrapped the shooting of Lamhaa and other films. However Bunty Walia maintains that Dutt still has to complete Lamhaa. Sanju says, "My scenes for Lamhaa are done with only some scenes between Bipasha and Kunal Kapoor are left. I grew a beard for 40 days.

After finishing my portions, I specifically asked them if they required me for other scenes. I was told I wasn't so I shaved off my beard and completed my other films. Now, I hear they want my dates again with the same look. That's not possible."

The actor leaves shortly for South Africa for a month-long schedule for Anil Kapoor's No Problem.

Tabu replaces Mallika as Sanjay Dutt's Girlfriend in All the Best

Mallika Sherawat was supposed to act in Rohit Shetty's All The Best but now, Tabu will be seen in the same role. The shooting was delayed due to Sanju's political campaigning. Meanwhile, the actress' dates were lost and she doesn't have more dates to accommodate the film. With good friends

The role calls for a glamorous girl to star opposite Sanju. A source reveals, "Tabu has been approached and has shown an interest in the project. She is friendly with Ajay and it was his idea to cast her. Even though they haven't worked together for long, Ajay and Tabu are good friends." Tabu and Sanjay have worked together before, in Sarhad Paar (2006)

All the Best will mark Tabu's return to mainstream commercial cinema. "Tabu has been on a hiatus from spicy masala films for a long time. She has been busy doing south films, and has rejected several Bollywood scripts. She was quite impressed with this script and found it hilarious."
