Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao has suffered a miscarriage, the actor said on his website on Wednesday.
"Kiran and I lost our baby. Despite our best efforts we were unable to avert a miscarriage," the 44-year-old actor said on his blog (www.aamirkhan.com/blog ).
No other details were given.
"The last 2 months have been a struggle for us and that is one of the reasons I was absent from the blog in more ways than one," Khan said.
"K and I need time to heal," he added.
Khan, who has two children from a previous marriage, married Rao in December 2005.
Rao's debut film "Dhobi Ghat", in which Khan plays one of the leading roles, is nearly complete.
