Kareena Kapoor follows Katrina’s footsteps

If Katrina Kaif gave her best performance so far in Kabir Khan’s New York it is now Kareena Kapoor’s turn to pull out all stops and deliver a walloping histrionic sixer in Rensil D’Silva’s Kurbaan. In uncannily similar roles. Both the actresses are featured in near-identical roles, of a wife who discovers her husband to be a closet-terrorist. Coincidentally both the films are located in the city of New York. Secretly both Katrina and Kareena see the role of the terrorist’s wife as a turning point in their respective careers.But what about the similarity between the two characters? Kurbaan director Rensil D’Silva doesn’t deny the similarities. “

If there are similarities between Kurbaan and New York then that’s fine. I’ve high regards for Kabir Khan as a filmmaker. If Kurbaan reminds audiences of Kabir’s film then I’m fine with that. It has worthy recall-value.”However Rensil cautions that every work on terror and terrorism has its own mood and purpose. “There can be any number of films on two people falling in love. It’s about how the individual director interprets the emotion of love.Likewise with the theme of terrorism. It’s open to a multitude of interpretations. I’d like to believe my films is essentially different from Kabir’s.”Kabir Khan was on the way to Cairo for the Cairo Film Festival for the screening of New York on Monday when he was contacted.

Khan said, “What can I say about the similarities between the two films that you’re pointing out? Kurbaan looks like a well-made film. If they’re similar then I’m sure that the audience that appreciated my New York will also take to this film.”But the real fight will be between Kareena and Katrina, both portraying similar roles and vying for the same popular awards at the end of the year.

Kareena Kapoor endorses Size Zero laptops

Japanese electronics giant Sony had signed her up to endorse its ultra slim range of laptops. Kareena Kapoor has done her most daring and steamy scene yet with beau Saif Ali Khan in Karan Johar’s Kurbaan. The first lot of pictures of her bare back and her liplock with Saif are part of the film’s initial promotions, and the reactions are flying in. Although Kareena thinks it is much ado about nothing, “Not once did I feel awkward while shooting any scene for the film. It’s always easier to shoot for romantic and passionate scenes with someone you are dating, because of the comfort level. Also I am very close to Rensil D’Silva (the director) while Karan is like family and I trusted them completely. I knew whatever they shot would come out very classy.And the poster proves that.”She goes on to say that she and Saif both love the poster, “Everything is symbolic including Saif’s wound and my wet hair — it represents passion, sensuality and emotional violence.

Kurbaan is a love story with an undertone of violence — a combination of love and violence. Everyone — from my mom to my sister Karisma — is eagerly waiting for Kurbaan to release. It will remain one of my top three favourite films along with Omkara and Jab We Met.Karan Johar says, “Kareena and Saif were very comfortable with the romantic scenes. It also helped in the passionate romantic scenes as Saif and Kareena are a couple. That helped them in the comfort zone.They are also very credible, talented and professional actors who can convey passion and sensuality with conviction. Salman Khan rescues Kareena Kapoor

So far we’ve only heard horror stories of Salman’s misbehaviour with his leading and misleading ladies. But Kareena Kapoor has a different story to tell. Says Kareena, “Salman has always been very protective. He has been there for me whenever I needed him. That’s partly to do with the fact that my sister Karisma is very close friends with Salman and also his favourite co-star.” Every time Kareena shoots with Salman she feels super-protected and safe. Just how caring a co-star this Khan can be was proven to Kareena recently when they were shooting a romantic song on the Phi Phi Beach in Thailand for his home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

This was the same location where Danny Boyle had shot The Beach with Leonardo di Caprio. The beach, as anyone who’s been there, is no sandy but pebbled. And Kareena had to go barefeet into the water with Salman. But before she could reach even half-way she cut her foot in a sharp pebble rather badly. Says a source, “Kareena doubled up in pain and almost fell to the ground. Salman reflexively reached for her and swooped her into his arms. And he carried her to the water.” The shot has been retained in the film, although it was never meant to be part of the film.Says the director Prem Soni, “Throughout the shooting you could see the special bonding that they had. But that day on the Phi Phi island it got really special.

We came much further into the land from the sea than we imagined.When it was time to go back we realized we had to walk through the pebbled beach and wade into almost head-deep water before reaching our boat. We had to do it. Otherwise we’d have to spend the night on the beach without food or water. Kareena was in this long gown and barefoot. She was in pain. Before we knew it he swooped her into his arms and carried her into a boat. It was a very romantic-looking moment and we couldn’t let it go.”

Bollywood is remaking Oscar winner Julia Roberts starrer 1998 Hollywood comedy-drama Stepmom.

Bollywood fans are curious to see how glamorous Filmfare winner Kareena Kapoor will fit into the shoes of working girl Roberts, who played a successful photographer Isabel Kelly in 1998 movie.

They find it quite unusual for Kapoor to look like an ordinary working girl, who is reportedly taking acting lessons just for this movie, shall flaunt a new hairstyle and shall not use any make-up.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has strongly criticized Bollywood filmmakers for blatantly recreating Hollywood themes while ignoring India's abundance of great tales ready for adaptation for the big screen.

India had a longstanding tradition of scriptural and folk tales and various languages of India were loaded with literary themes to choose from, Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, added.

Directed by Siddharth Malhotra and produced by Filmfare winner Karan Johar, Bollywood Stepmom will replace Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) and Oscar nominated Ed Harris (Pollock) with Filmfare winners Kajol (Fanaa) and Arjun Rampal (Rock On!!) respectively.

While Hollywood Stepmom was filmed in New York and New Jersey states of USA, the Bollywood Stepmom will be shot in Australia and USA.

The storyline of Hollywood Stepmom was about how the children and ex-wife cope when a new woman (Julia Roberts) entered in their father's life, who was a successful photographer, and did not plan to give up her work.

Kareena Kapoor to do a Victoria!

Kareena Kapoor is on the verge of tying up with an international fashion house for a signature clothesline. The star has planned a tour of Paris and Los Angeles where her agents are setting up a series of meetings with prominent designer houses.
While it's almost de rigeur for big Hollywood celebrities, it'll definitely be a first for a Bollywood star.

"I won't be associating with any Indian designer for my clothesline. It has to be a global fashion brand. I have told my agents in Matrix that I want to go to Paris to finalise a designer," Kareena told DNA.

According to sources, the brands they are in touch with include Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace and Roberto Cavalli.

"Kareena's agents are basically concentrating on design houses that are members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in France, but preferably one which doesn't already have a presence in India. The ensembles designed and manufactured by them will be marketed in India and a few other countries as Kareena's signature line," says a source close to the star.

Sources add that a multi-million dollar deal with the most probable title of "Kareena" is in the pipeline. Also, there will be an extensive ad campaign and "a glittering national launch in Mumbai" once she's signed on the dotted line.

"I can't talk about the business aspect of the deal just yet. I have a three-month marathon schedule coming up with Karan Johar (for the Hindi remake of Stepmom which also stars Kajol) and after that I'm planning to go on a holiday. So, the Paris trip will be worked into that schedule. I will also be going to Los Angeles to meet some more designers. A lot of work needs to be done before I can make an official announcement about it," signs off Kareena. Bon voyage.

Kareena Kapoor returns Rs. 1 million to Producer

Just few days back there were reports about Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association aka IMPPA receiving a complaint from M/s PJ Sughand Production Pvt Ltd against Kareena Kapoor. Sughand Production had claimed Kareena had taken Rs. 10 lakhs as a signing amount for their film and had refused to return back the sum after she refused to commit dates for their project. But now it is learnt that Kareena Kapoor has refunded the amount.

The production company was reportedly facing some serious financial trouble after the death of Jhamu Sughandh who had financed films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Aks among others and was in desperate need of the refund from Kareena. The Kambakkht Ishq actress has settled the amount back in quick time. In fact so happy are IMPPA with her prompt steps that they even sent her a thanking letter for settling the claim in short span of time.

Deepika Padukone ignores Kareena Kapoor

Saif Ali Khan has time and again said that he wanted Kareena Kapoor and not Deepika Padukone as his female lead in his home production “Love Aaj Kal”. But it was director Imtiaz Ali who was adamant to do the film with Deepika or not do it at all. Imtiaz felt Deepika was fit for the role in spite of him delivering the super hit Jab We Met with Kareena Kapoor.

Deepika never took Saif’s statement kindly although she maintained a healthy working relationship with her co-star turn producer. Now she has found a unique way to hit back at Saif and Kareena. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor might be mum about when they would like to get into matrimony as reports suggest both want to concentrate on their career, but Saif's mother Sharmila Tagore wants them to marry as soon as possible.

Say Sharmila, "Saif has not communicated to me anything on marrying Kareena but we (Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila) know that he is very serious about her. We are aware that they both need time before they decide to settle down and we are ready to give them that. Both have come out of their past relationships and we are waiting for them to tell us when they would like to get married. We know that both are very fond of each other and by God's grace their marriage should happen soon. I cannot tell you which year or month as that totally depends on them. As parents, we would like Saif and Kareena to settle down as soon as possible."

But has the Pataudi family spoken to Kareena's parents, particularly Babita, regarding Saif and Kareena's future? "I know Babita very well and our family and Kareena's family both know how serious they are about each other. As parents we have spoken nothing about their marriage yet but we both have no objection to their relationship or marriage," the veteran actor adds.

And will be seen in bridal finery in the ad.An insider reveals, "We carried a survey, and Kareena Kapoor got the top vote for a bridal collection. Most people said they'd like to see Bebo in a never-seen avtaar of bridal wear. The actress shot for both the collections in a single day, at a 16 hour stretch.

The outfit was a Manish Malhotra creation" Kareena made the decision to endorse the bridal collection as she could see herself in it. She has even worn one of their collections for an award function last year.

Rujuta reveals her star client's secret recipe of looking great and feeling fit, "I had given her a diet rich in carbohydrates as Pangong and Ladakh are low in oxygen. Carbs give oxygen and allow her body to burn fat. Also the shooting is hectic, so she needs her calories.

Kareena is eating the local staple diet of the Ladakhis Thukpa (noodle soup), goat cheese, momos, and Leh berries (made from the juice of seabuckthorn, which are rich anti-oxidants and good fat burners."

The actress also has lots of Ladakhi butter tea which keeps you from getting dehydrated.
